Together with four other photographers, I spent an afternoon in Covent Garden and Chinatown, London, being instructed, motivated and inspired in the art of 'street photography' by Nikon Ambassador Lucy Hamidzadeh, who passed on many tips and techniques for getting interesting images.
I've never believed that a single image can 'tell a story' - not accurately, anyway - because it is very much up to the viewer to interpret for themselves what the circumstances are, or what the photographed person is thinking or doing. However, what Lucy taught is that by looking around us, particularly into places where we would not normally give a second glance, we can capture a glimpse into other people's lives and thereby create images that stimulate our imagination about what they were experiencing when our cameras captured their image.
