London is my city of birth and it has changed significantly during my time working at its heart - mostly, in my opinion, for the good. When I started work in Canon Street in 1971 most of the South Bank was a no-go area, full of derelict wharfs and warehouses, and the once thriving docks to the east of London gradually declined during the 60s and 70s. Since the regeneration programme's start in 1981, more and more offices and housing have been built, such that now almost all of the old warehouses from Westminster Bridge to Greenwich have been redeveloped.
